Having been successful in getting into 2011 London marathon via a ballot place I decided that if I was going to punish myself with months of winter training that I might as well do it for a good cause. Several very worthwhile charities came to mind but by chance whilst at work I met Dave Merritt who had lost his daughter to Mitochondrial Disease.

He and his wife Liz then set up The Lily Foundation to raise much needed funds to research the disease and to provide support for other families whose lives were effected by this condition.
