Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Between 16th& 24th August 2015 I am cycling some 780 miles around Scotland between all of the CRUK Relay for Life sites, starting in Kirriemuir on the close of our Relay for Life and visiting:
Dundee, Arbroath, Peterhead, Thurso, Perth, Dalgety Bay, East Kilbride and Wigtown in Dumfries & Galloway.
I will cover 90-110 miles per full day on the bike and am cycling alone, with my son Alan providing a support vehicle.Although I am an active person I am not a natural athlete and I know this will challenge me physically and mentally.
I have been involved in Relay for Life in Kirriemuir since the outset, a 24 hour community event where teams of between 8-15 take it in turns to walk around a track during a 24 hour period. The event aims to celebrate the increasing number of people surviving cancer, support those going through treatment and remember those lost to the disease. It's a brilliant event with 24 hours of entertainment, and some really poignant moments.
I hope my cycle raises awareness of Relay, and hopefully gets a few more events started for 2016. Of course I also hope to raise bucket loads of money for the research undertaken by CRUK. I'm grateful for anything you contribute. All money you donate will go to CRUK and will count towards the CRUK Kirriemuir Relay for Life fundraising total.
