Story
To raise money to donate to The Children’s Trust, all students in the First and Second Years, and lots of their teachers, will be taking part in a sponsored ‘silly wig’ run from Reigate Hill to Tadworth Cricket Club, just across the road from the Trust. The run is a distance of approximately four miles along local footpaths and will take place in Activities Week. The students are invited to match their outfit (if they would like) to their choice of silly wig. Fancy dress is very welcome! This run brings to a conclusion the Second Year’s fundraising, but it also launches the First Year’s fundraising, who will take over the mantel of supporting The Children’s Trust next year.
This is an historic event which RGS has organised annually for over 30 years now, raising money for The Children’s Trust (formerly Tadworth Court Children’s Hospital). In that time, we have raised over £200,000, supplying a hydraulic bath, a summer playroom, a computer room and a special ‘sensory’ room for aiding the rehabilitation of children with severe brain injuries. We have furnished two new bedrooms, provided an outdoor barbecue area and, in the last 15 years, have fully furnished several new areas in their school. In one particular year, we raised over £4000 before Gift Aid!
