Story
I lost my mum to Covid on the 12th of August this year. From the start of showing symptoms to her passing took just two and half days. She had just turned 76. She loved life and was a very jolly, kind and generous individual. She has always been a big part of our lives. We are missing her terribly and her loss has left my family and I in pieces. She was an incredibly strong character and fought many life changing battles, and throughout, she always kept a very optimistic view of life. Certainly a "glass half full" character. She had a particular interest for helping children in need and throughout her life she helped many children in so many ways, some directly in her own capacity and some through her charitable donations.
It is a very sad fact that Covid has left many thousands of children without either one or both parents. This outcome means that in many countries orphaned children are having to battle for the very basic provisions such as one meal a day. It is hard to imagine the pain, the vulnerability faced by thousands of innocent young children. Orphans In Need are at the forefront of helping children to fight this battle, to give them a better start in life, a kind of life which we all want for our own children.
In my mother’s memory and guided by her spirit, I have decided to take on a challenge to raise some funds for Orphans In Need, and with your help, kindness and care, we can collectively raise some money which will go some way towards this great cause.
Given my tired knees and damaged achilles, running a straight half or full Marathon won't be a wise move! So I have decided that throughout Dec, I will aim to cover equivalent distance of three and half Marathons. That's my aim! I will post regular updates to keep everyone informed of my progress or better say – struggle !
I am so grateful for any donation you can make. I know that we will collectively make a huge difference in many lives of very vulnerable children.
with my very best wishes,
Reza
