Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
Kate and I ran the 'Great West Run' which is a half-marathon on Sunday 4th May. The event was in Exeter, which is a lot hillier than I remember and the course was gruelling and the run harder than either of us had imagined. We did it though and in 2hours, 25 minutes which is a respectable time. Never again!
We ran in memory of my daughter Alice to raise money for 'Rainbows Childrens Hospice', a truly wonderful place where we enjoyed good times with Alice.
Alice died when she was 21-months old as a result of sepsis (infection) which led to multi-organ failure. She had always been vulnerable to infection as a result of a bowel disorder which meant she had to be fed intravenously via a central line. We always knew that the odds were stacked against her surviving and living a normal life but because of the strong, happy girl she was we were happy together even when life was difficult.
Rainbows Childrens Hospice provided our family with much-needed respite as caring for Alice was a 24 hour responsibility and the times we spent there were some of the happiest and most relaxed times we had together.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Rainbows Children's Hospice will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support
