Story
I've wanted to donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust for a while. It is such an easy way to make a difference to a child's life. My hair will be blended with that of at least four other people to make a wig for a girl or boy who has lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
However, there is a tradition in my family of losing hair to raise money for charity - my father once shaved off his magnificent beard in a church for charity. So I'd like to use this occasion to raise money for another cause I care deeply about.
It is basically impossible to imagine what it is like to be homeless. People can become homeless for a whole host of reasons and it can come out of nowhere. A family becomes homeless every fifteen minutes. Shelter provide support for those who are, or about to become, homeless. They campaign to tackle the root causes of homelessness. They train those working in the housing sector on everything from giving advice to housing law to better help those facing homelessness.
I hope you'll be able to donate to Shelter. My target is to raise £200 by the time of my appointment at the hairdresser. The Little Princess Trust has an agreement with a wig-making factory who will make the wigs at no charge. Therefore every penny you donate will go to Shelter. Your generosity will make sure I don't chicken out of the big chop. You'll be contributing to the campaign for a decent home for everyone AND a gift for a child that will brighten up a very difficult period.
Thank you!
