My name is Rebecca Harrold and I am 15 years old. I have been involved in Girlguiding for 10 years and I have loved every minute of it! I am now in Senior Section, and I am also a Young Leader at a local Brownie unit. I am very lucky to have a place on the World Scout Jamboree 2011. It is a once in a lifetime chance, and I am really excited about it. Over 40,000 Scouts and Guides from across the world will be there in Sweden. I will be able to learn about different cultures and form new friendships. This is a unique opportunity, and I feel very privileged to be going. I plan to share my experiences with the local Girlguiding units when I return, as many of the girls will not be fortunate enough to go on a World Scout Jamboree themselves.
I am currently doing my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, having completed my Bronze. I am working towards my Grade 6 clarinet exam. I also play the saxophone and the clarinet in ensembles and bands. I am involved with Fairtrade, both in the town and at school. I am a member of my local Youth Town Council and also the School Council. I enjoy trampolining, swimming and playing hockey and badminton in my free time (not that there is much of it!).
I am very busy fundraising; I have 3 paper rounds and I babysit for neighbours. I am also saving my Birthday and Christmas money. I have made crafts to sell at fairs and done 2 car boot sales and a yard sale. I have done bagpacking in the local superstore, picked up litter at a local rock festival, marshalled at a charity fun run and done a sponsored walk. l have not yet run out of ideas to help me reach my target but I still have a long way to go, so any support you can offer is greatly appreciated.
