Why am I Running?
Last year I completed my first ever half marathon with a time of 2:02. Although very challenging, the feeling when crossing the finish line was utterly euphoric and made it all worth it. So...been there, done that, and got the t-shirt, why am I putting myself through it again?
I felt that I had left a lot on the table last year. With a more focused training programme and better preparation I believe I can achieve a 1:50 or 1:45. So this year I am doing just that, taking my training programme more seriously and pushing my fitness to new heights.
Also, I have recently come to learn that my my Grandmother in India, has unfortunately been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is now beginning chemotherapy. So I will be running this years marathon to show my support for my Grandmother as she goes through her treatment programme and to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
CANCER RESEARCH UK:
Your donations will accelerate the developments being made by today's scientists in early detection, more effective treatment, and hopefully, one day, a cure! In fact recently they have launched a new clinical trial to test a drug that could stop a patient’s immune system from protecting tumours. “Teaching the body’s immune system to fight cancer is a promising area of cancer research and we’re excited to see how this new drug may help.”
I think you'll agree that this is a great charity who are really making leaps and bounds in their research.Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and your support for the marathon, and on behalf of Cancer Research UK thank you for your donation.
