As always we started the New Year with the normal resolutions and predictably one of them was to get fit, but we didn't want to join the gym to give up 2 weeks later, so we sat in the office contemplating on how to achieve this and came across the CARE Construction Challenge. What better way to ensure our commitment than to take part in a team event and raise money for a fantastic charity.
 
So on the 2nd July 2011 we individually covered a marathon distance on foot, bike and water which included:
 
15km Run, 26km Cycle and a 1km Canoe

At the end of the day, we decided to also cover the additional 8km time trial to challenge ourselves a little more, and to increase our total distance over the day to 50km!!!

So where will your money go?  CARE International are raising valuable funds for some of the most important and pioneering Emergency Shelter & Reconstruction projects in the world. For example, the target of £3000 could fund the deployment and assessment carried out by one of CARE’s Emergency Shelter Advisers used in emergencies like the recent earthquakes in Haiti. Or the funds that you raise could support some of CARE’s other projects including erecting temporary shelter for families whose homes and lives have been devastated by war or training communities in improved construction techniques.
