Story
From February 1st–5th, the MaRaWthon 2016 will see members of the University of Warwick's student radio station, RaW 1251AM, will be leaving the comfort of our warm studio to face the elements atthe very heart of campus, the Piazza. This outdoor broadcast will last for 100 hours non-stop, day and night, to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind.
RaW’s DJs will be broadcasting their shows fromoutside, bringing an array of great entertainment, chat and music to the piazza alongside a cheery atmosphere, despite what the unpredictable the February weather has in store for us.
As well as airing the usual schedule, we will be broadcasting throughout the night, from 11pm to 8am. For the entire 100 hours the members of RaW and the station will be broadcasting no matter what.
The MaRaWthon is the annual charity event hosted by RaW, over the past three years we have raised over £3500 for charity, and this year we want to raise more than we ever have. This year to make the MaRaWthon even bigger and better than previous years we have enlisted the help of a few societies. Over the 100 hours we will be joined by a variety of societies from sports clubs, to media, charities, academic, cultural, performance societies, the lot. This is sure to be a great event, one that is not to be missed.
This year we are supporting the fantastic charity Mind. It is a fantastic cause that we at RaW 1251AM are really passionate about, you may have seen our Christmas video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLaPaxdmU8g).They ‘provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem… campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Mind won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.’
Any contributions, no matter how big or small are greatly appreciated and make sure to visit our tent on the piazza to support us and see what exciting things we’re up to.
