Story
In celebration of the partnership between In Defense of Animals - Africa and Ape Action Africa, two charities dedicated to saving the great apes of Cameroon, the sanctuaries are particpating in the Mount Cameroon 'Race of Hope' on 27 February!
Ape Action Africa's Director, Rachel Hogan, planned to run but unfortunately the dates of the race were changed and she is no longer able to attend. The baton has been passed to Deputy Director Larry Taylor from Ape Action Africa and Conservation Officer Lucie Labbouz from In Defense of Animals - Africa. They will now both be running for their chimps - our target of £2,000 will buy bananas for a month for all the chimps in both sanctuaries!
The Race of Hope is a gruelling 40 km race up a live volcanic mountain which is also the highest mountain in West Africa, so Larry and Lucie really need your support! Rachel has been supporting them in their training and is incredibly appreciative of their efforts, as is Dr. Sheri Speede, founder and Director of In Defense of Animals - Africa and Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center. And you can encourage them hugely by digging deep to help them continue their vital work for their beloved chimps. The total funds raised will be shared equallly between the two sanctuaries.
We will be sharing memories on Facebook from the many years of partnership between the two sanctuaries in the next two weeks before the race.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Your money will go in the first instance to Ape Action Africa and they will transfer half of the final total raised to IDA Africa.
Thank you so much for your support and for helping both sanctuaries to continue their fight to protect the chimpanzees of Cameroon!
