We support young palliative cancer patients to help make each moment matter

Story

I am literally shaking in my boots as I have signed up to abseil 200ft down the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle (twice the height of the Tyne Bridge!) I am doing this in aid of Josies Dragonfly, a small local charity based in Hexham set up by Josie Grove before she died of cancer aged just 16.

Her wish was to give a cash gift of £500 to children where treatment is no longer curative to bring some happiness to the child in their last days and also to buy crafts and activities to cheer up children going through treatment. The charity would like the cash gift to be available in all 23 childrens cancer specialist hospitals but due to limited funds and sadly the large number of children who qualify they can only afford to introduce 2 new hospitals each year.

To make the gifts available in all hospitals the charity needs to raise at least £300,000 per year.

I have set a personal target of £500 as this will mean that one more child receives the gift. Every penny counts!

If anyone would like to sponsor me then it is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Rachel
