Story

Thank you for visiting the 3rd (UK) Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment fundraising page. Please dig deep and make a donation online now.

The 3rd (UK) Division Headquarters and Signals Regiment completed the QinetiQ 500 endurance race at 1309hrs on Wednesday 13 Mar 08, raising the total identified above for the charity “Help for Heroes”. This year’s event saw 4 teams battle it out over 500 laps of a standard athletics track (200km) carrying 30lb weight in what can only be described as severe weather conditions.

The race was started by the 3DSR Commanding Officer at 2200hrs on Tuesday 11 Mar 08 for what was going to be one of the toughest races attempted for the majority of those taking part. Morale was extremely high as every runner gave it their all for the Help for Heroes charity, finishing the race in a very credible time of 15hrs 09 mins.

The time was not fast enough to beat the competition record set by the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiments of Fusiliers in Cyprus 2006, but the team comprising of 3DSR and RLC soldiers from Abingdon have set the UK record, one I’m sure 2RRF would also be keen to beat on home territory.
