Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. The Provisio team is made up of Andrew Whiteley, Martin Gorvett, Alexa Radcliffe-Hart, and Chloe Mead.
We are going to climb Ben Nevis (12 miles, up and down to a height of 1,344 meters), cycle 25 miles and canoe Loch Lochy for the Ben Nevis Challenge.
Provisio, UHY and VBS are all involved in this challenge (each with their own team pages). We champion the fantastic work that the Tom's Trust team does because it is a charity close to our hearts. The charity was founded as the legacy of Tom Whiteley, Andrew's son, who died aged 9 of a brain tumour.
Brain tumours are the most common cause of cancer deaths in children under 15. This a devastating disease on all levels and Tom's Trust are dedicated to supporting this group of children and their families from the point of diagnosis, through treatment and after treatment offering them the best possible rehabilitation support available.
Children with brain tumours need support from diagnosis to outcome and beyond. The support of a complete rehabilitation service has been missing from the care they are given at NHS hospitals and this is where Tom's Trust comes in.
Working with Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and in collaboration with two other charities (Camille's Appeal and Anna's Hope) they have created and launched a dedicated and pioneering rehabilitation service called ‘Brainbow’ . This service consists of
The work the team are doing is already making a huge difference to the children who need it. Their fundraising initiative is now focused on raising further funds for a second Clinical Psychologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge as well as working with a second UK hospital to fund a similar essential service to that in place in Cambridge. Tom's Trust's work will not stop until all children with brain tumours have access to this type of service.
