Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you will know I suffer from a chronic illness called M.E, a neurological illness that has dramatically changed my life. I have had it for over 12 years & I have a 6 year old daughter who has only ever known me poorly. I want this to change.
This year I am joining The Princesses and M.E, a group of M.E patients and supporters that are hoping to raise awareness of M.E and fundraise for the charities that do such a great job in supporting patients and those close to them. On May 12th, M.E awareness day, myself and other sufferers will be dressing as Princesses and hoping for a fairytale. I am hoping I have enough energy (or adrenaline) to get me through the day. I won't be revealing my oufit until the day but it's fun. And I am pretty sure my little miss will also be making an appearance!
Our ultimate fairytale would be finding a cure for this illness that has locked us away from the world. However, to do that we need to raise as much awareness as possible, educating everyone about the true nature of this illness and the disabling nature of it. There are more than 250,000 diagnosed cases in the UK alone.
This year I am fundraising for ME Research UK. I chose this charity because of the great work they do to support M.E sufferers and raise awareness. They are a voice for the vulnerable in a world of much misunderstanding and prejudice against M.E patients.
Research is so vital in finding the much longed-for cure, so charities like this are crucial. I want to raise as much as possible towards funding such valuable research. My life is so difficult as a result of having M.E. I suffer from severe fatigue and pain daily which is massively increased upon any day to day (what most people class as "normal") activities being carried out. I don't want to live like this anymore. At the moment I don't have a choice but my wish is to be healthy some day. To enjoy time with family and friends without being very poorly as a result. And to do fun things with my daughter without suffering for it. To just be "normal". With enough research I have to stay optimistic that it will happen.
