About POW Thanet
Hailing from the vibrant landscapes of Thanet, Kent, the Power of Women stands as a beacon of artistic expression, fervently championing the cause of equality. In a world still marked by gender disparities, we navigate the multifaceted realm of feminism, creating a haven where diverse perspectives are heard, understood, and celebrated.
Each March, the shores of Thanet come alive with the POW Annual Festival, a tribute to International Women's Day and a celebration of the boundless creativity of women and non-binary individuals. Spanning workshops, exhibitions, performances, and more, the festival welcomes both in-person and virtual attendees, from local enthusiasts to global art aficionados.
Beyond the festival, we're passionate about intertwining the arts with the fabric of our community. Our engagement initiatives run year-round, sparking inspiration and broadening horizons. We foster collaborations between artists and local institutions, amplifying the reach of our public arts endeavours.
POW's legacy traces back to 2015, conceptualised by arts maven Christina Clark-McQuaid. The baton of creativity was further carried by theatre luminary Jan Ryan, serving as the Artistic Director till 2020. Today, the dynamic trio of CEO Rosanagh, Artistic Director Amy Redmond and communications Director Alex Menace, backed by a cadre of talents, helms our mission.
