Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Katie Piper, our daughter, our sister, had sulphuric acid thrown in her face in March 2008. There are many media reports that can be read online that cover her story and road to recovery. She is now campaigning for greater awareness of burns survivors, increased support for burns survivors in the UK and for the pioneering surgery she received with a ground-breaking treatment. Her documentary "Katie: My Beautiful Face" was shown on Cutting Edge on Channel 4 in October 2009 and again in December 2009.
We are so very grateful for all of the kind donations people have made to our original JustGiving page supporting Dans Fund For Burns. Your donations will really help with the care and future lives of burns survivors. With the overwhelming response, letters and requests for help, Katie has now set up her own charity; "The Katie Piper Foundation" so that she can help other burns survivors first-hand herself and also campaign for increased care in the country. She is very excited about this new venture and there will soon be a full website detailing Katie's news, aims and plans for the charity.
Katie's brother, Paul, is running the Virgin London Marathon 2010 and now together as a family we would like to raise money for her new charity, The Katie Piper Foundation.
There is currently a basic site set up where you can read more at: http://www.katiepiperfoundation.org.uk
Your donation is very much appreciated and really will make a huge difference to people's lives.
Many thanks, the Piper Family
