Story
Thank you so much for your donation and support!
I am walking and wild camping the 1057 miles around the perimeter of Wales, solo, for charity. This journey should take around 9-11 weeks, but is naturally weather, navigation and fitness dependent!
My charity of choice is Beat, the UK’s national Eating Disorders charity. They are a champion, a guide and a friend, who work with individuals, families and friends, schools and universities, and run national level campaigns to incite positive change. In practical terms, they provide helplines and a ‘HelpFinder’ service, awareness training, message boards, online support groups, and run and assist pioneering research into the causes and treatments of Eating Disorders.
Eating Disorders are dangerously misunderstood, stigmatised, insidious, and sadly still in vogue. They encompass a spectrum of illnesses, and are often connected to other mental health conditions. The scale of the challenge is great and growing, and mental health services in the UK are already in crisis. Fault lines in the healthcare system are pressurised further by the unrelenting and evolving clean eating discourse, all too often a dietary wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing. We must work to overcome disarray, and strive to alleviate isolation, desperation and tragedy, with kindness, empathy and patience. Your generosity for Beat, and following and sharing my journey to raise awareness, could be a step in the right direction.

Thank you and big love!
p.s. the name 'pigheaded' stems from the perimeter of Wales looking like a pig's head, and the stubborn determination of the colloquial term!
