Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 14th July 2013 I will be running the British 10K London run to raise money for Shine. Shine is Europe's largest organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they face the challenges arising from spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
As many of you may know, my sister Hattie was born with hydrocephalus and still to this day faces the difficulties brought about by her condition. Hydrocephalus, also referred to as "water on the brain", is a medical condition in which there is a build-up of fluid on the brain. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain and, if left untreated, can lead to brain damage as well as a loss in mental and physical abilities.
When Hattie was born, doctors believed that she would not live beyond a few days old due to the severity of her condition. However, as I'm sure all of you that know her will agree, she has defied the odds and blossomed into an amazing and incredibly charismatic 24 year old.
Hattie has been through her fair share of ups and downs and recently she has not been very well. It is a difficult time for any family when one of its members is not feeling their best, however charities like Shine provide the much needed help and support when times get tough.
It was a personal choice to run for this charity and I would be incredibly grateful if you could support them with me and donate whatever you can - every penny counts! I hope to raise £500 as well as raise awareness of hydrocephalus, a lesser-known medical condition that is very close to my heart.
So please dig deep and donate, no matter how big or small - your donation and support will be much appreciated! Thank you so much.
