Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Since 2010 Phil Skayman and a group of friends started fundraising for SADS in memory of their football captain and mate Adam Hughes who was taken away from the condition SADS. This group formed Hughsie FC and it has now grown into a community of people who continue to support the charity and raise money for other good causes and groups. Hughsie FC has now raised over £40k for charities and community groups.
SADS UK Helps Save Lives, informing the public and health professionals of symptoms of Heart Conditions that can cause a Sudden Arrhythmic Death (SADS) if not detected and treated. The charity donates cardiac equipment and defibrillators in the community and supports research into SADS.
Adam was an inspiration to all who knew him and through this charity support his memory will live on

2019
Phil Skayman. In October 2018 I was asked to run the 2019 London Marathon in support to SADS and in memory of Adam. For those of you that know me will have realised that I am no athlete and I'm not built for running. I am however very determined and this is not about any personal achievement for me it is about supporting SADS and preventing more tragic sudden deaths
2021
Setting up 11aside SADS Charity Football Team
This team has gone from strength to strength. It has raised a few thousand all ready and has over 100 players/former players actively now involved in some way. We aim to play 1 game per month throughout the year against many other charity teams and organisations
2022
Phil Skayman (gaffer), Jamie Hallam and Adam Cropper of Hughsie FC trekked for 3 weeks in the Himalayas and reached the base of Mount Everest standing at nearly 6000 meters.
The lads will faced extreme conditions, trekking of up to 15 miles per day with backpacks and had to deal many challenges including altitude sickness.
The trip itself was self funded and all donations to support them went to the SADS charity not the trip itself. They did it to support the charity and continue to raise vital awareness in what SADS do including making it law to have AEDs in ALL public spaces.
2023
Samantha Holland is running the 2023 London Marathon on behalf of SADS and Hughsie FC...
'I first took up running in 2018 when I had to have my horse put down - I am not a natural runner but it took the pain away from loosing my best friend and hobby.
I have completed a few ultra marathons but I have never completed a marathon in a race environment and what better opportunity than to run London this year for SADs UK.
Adam was a dear friend to my husband and it was an honour and joy to spend time with him and he is sorely missed. Adams brother is a very good friend of mine and has helped me in words I cannot express with my running - this is for both the boys and I hope I can do them proud and give back to them what they have given to me'. 💙
2025
Oliver Burford is one of the original founders of Hughsie FC. Over the years he has done so many things to support the club and charities it supports. Here is the latest example of that support from Ollie :
Having watched and supported several of my friends complete different marathons and races, hearing their stories about how good it was, I eventually came to thinking I might give it a go! I’m not a natural runner but have played lots of sports so I am fairy fit. Football being one of the sports I played and I was lucky enough to play many times alongside our skipper Adam and I was also lucky enough to call him a friend!
I’ve been alongside all the guys and Phil since the beginning of the charity raising money and it is always such an honour and privilege to raise the money at these events! So I’m even more prouder now to be able to raise money in my own right! I’m setting myself the challenge of two marathons in three weeks, having never done a race before, not even a park run!
The London marathon will be the second marathon and will be my hardest challenge I’ve ever faced! To raise as much as possible for SADS will see me over the line, to know everyone has supported me and the charity will be amazing! 💙
