Support my personal pledge for Outlook!

When I completed my Outlook, Essence and Summit courses in 2004 I was left with a sense of purpose and intent to complete my defined goals and visions. One of the visions was to make the world a better place, in particular for children. That may sound corny but there are many diseases still around that create misery and hopelessness for families. When I heard that the Rotary Club of New York was looking for runners in the New York Marathon to raise money for charities supporting children I felt that my time had come to support a worthy cause and do my bit, together with my wife Vera, who had also been inspired by the Outlook trainings. We had never run more than 5k so it was a challenge and a massive stretch to complete a gruelling 6 month training programme leading to a wave of support and donations totalling over $15000 for the supported charities. Despite that successful pledge I have since then not run another marathon.

Recently I was informed that a new Outlook was starting and that the team was looking for support. Just as a coincidence I had been asked by some friends if Vera and I would like to run the 2013 London Marathon, this time for “fun”. Now we both felt like doing another massive stretch and I have always wanted to run my home-town marathon so we signed up. However the “for fun” bit is relative as the training is even more challenging than the NY training. Why? Well we live in Munich, Germany known not only for Beer and Oktoberfest but also for snow, lots of it and cold winters. The London marathon is on 21 April so training will be in the middle of winter, on wet and icy mornings, getting up in the dark and running at 5.30 in freezing sub-zero temperatures. No nice summer jogs but wind snow and rain, phew, a glutton for punishment!

So to get to the point, to give us a real reason to avoid a nice cosy lie-in we will run the London Marathon for Charity again, this time to support the Outlook cause. This is for us exceptionally special as Outlook helped us both through difficult times and we would like to give back something to the organization, improve awareness and perhaps even motivate others to find ways raise funds for this very worthy cause.

The sad news is that Vera has had to stop training due to a temporary setback, making it impossible for her to run the marathon.

So it will just be me, sob. I will be 55 years old when I run the 42k for the marathon.

To really make it special for me I would love to see many Outlookers either watching me suffer or support and motivate me by donating. Even the smallest amount helps and we are most grateful for all. Your donation also counts toward my personal pledge goal.

I have also set up a facebook page for those who want to support me. Like the page, comment, donate or just follow my pledge. I hope many are inspired to support as good a cause as I see Outlook to be. https://www.facebook.com/PeterLondon2013

Please forward this email to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well!

Thanks again so much!

With love
