Story
You may recall my "mid life crisis" started in 2009 when I participated in the Global Corporate Challenge. The GCC is an event aimed at helping participants change their "life styles" and specifically improve their health..... and it certainly worked for me! Since then, I have walked a marathon, run 3 half marathons, the 10 mile Great South run, and a number of other races of shorter distances.
I have now reached the "run-in" to the final challenge...... the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 10th April.
I have been overwhelmed by everyone's generosity over the last 18 months in supporting me in raising funds for the St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke. On this occasion, I am raising funds to support the National Association for Colitis & Crohn's Disease (NACC). NACC aims to improve life for everyone affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), the most common form being Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Together these conditions affect about 250,000 people in the United Kingdom. The charity brings together people of all ages who have been diagnosed with IBD, their families and the health professionals involved in their care.
The NACC is very close to my heart as my god daughter, Jenni, suffers from the disease. What I find remarkable is how she has remained so positive over the last few years during times of immense pain and discomfort which has resulted in many days and weeks spent in hospital. It is a very humbling experience.
I hope you feel this is a worthwhile cause, and are able to support me in my efforts to raise funds to contribute to their ongoing activities. If you would like to read a little more about NACC, please do visit their website:- http://www.nacc.org.uk/
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.... wish me luck!!
