We are raising funds for Paige to have a operation. Paige is a 5 year old bubbly bright little girl who was diagnosed with having peri ventricular leukomalacia and cerebral palsey spastic Diplegia in 2011 three days after her 1st Birthday. At this point Paige was unable to sit up, roll , or crawl and had very little use if her right arm. Through lots of physiotherapy she has managed to learn to crawl, sit up, pull to stand and walk with AFO splints and uses a Kaye Walker. She has recently had botox in both legs, and had her legs on plaster cast for three weeks but unfortunately it did not work. They are now looking at giving her long term medication.
Anyone who knows Paige knows she is a determined chatty little girl, who always has a answer for everything and an infectious personality. Paige often talks about when she can run around with her brother or walk home from school and learn to ride a scooter.
We setup this page as said previously to fund a operation to give her the chance she so desperately wants which is to walk unaided for the first time.
The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which will decrease the leg spasms she experiences and lower her tone in both legs, so she can walk more easily and eventually unaided.
Should we exceed the target amount ( or if we do not raise enough funds,or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
