Zumbathon®️ at Black Isle Leisure Centre

Zumbathon®️ · 26 April 2025
On Saturday 26th April, Zumba®️ lovers from across the Black Isle and beyond will join together at the Black Isle Leisure Centre in Fortrose from 10am to 1pm for a Zumbathon®️
Avoch Primary 7 teacher Sarah Byham came with this fantastic idea to raise funds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) - a Zumbathon®️, a 3-hour Zumba® dance-fitness party! Her Zumba® instructor, Lindsay Cummings, shimmied right on board bringing in some other instructors to join the event. Also coming to lead the Zumba®️ are qualified Zumba instructors Lorraine Evans and Donna Smith.
SIGN UP FOR THE EVENT HERE or make a donation in this page to sponsor the dancers. Dance for as long as you want to - 3 hours, or 20 minutes! No need for any previous Zumba® experience.
Thank you for sponsoring the dancers by donating to this amazing charity!
SCAA is Scotland’s only charity-funded air ambulance service. They rely on public support to keep flying and responding to time-critical emergencies wherever they occur in Scotland. No one in Scotland should die because help can't get there in time. With your support, they can be there when people need them.
Kenny and Maru Fraser's daughter Alma started feeling unwell during her final year at Avoch Primary School. In late May 2024 in Inverness, tests showed that she needed an emergency operation. The SCAA crew arrived quickly at Raigmore and flew Alma to the children's hospital in Glasgow. Thanks to their efficiency Alma arrived in time for a successful operation.
Alma had to stay in Glasgow for a month, so missed the end of Primary 7. She's still undergoing treatment, but enjoys hanging out with her friends and is attending Fortrose Academy when she can.
Alma has chosen to raise funds for SCAA, because it means a lot to her, knowing that they go far and beyond helping people like her in emergency situations.
Alma was diagnosed at Raigmore Hospital Children's Unit with hydrocephalus, a condition needing urgent medical treatment. She was flown that same day in the SCAA helicopter from Inverness to the Royal Children's Hospital in Glasgow where she received a potentially life-saving operation from the neurosurgeons there. We'll always be so grateful for the response of the SCAA in getting Alma to where she needed to be for the best medical care, fast. (Kenny & Maru Fraser)
