Story

On 21 September 2024 I'm cycling 50 miles in aid of PAPYRUS

I'm 60 this year and I've set myself a challenge - to cycle 50 miles to the beach at Brighton and to raise £500 for PAPYRUS.https://www.papyrus-uk.org/

PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide and is a cause close to my heart, as 34 years ago, at the age of only 25, my dearest friend took his own life.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK. Last year, around 200 schoolchildren were lost to suicide, which you'll agree is too many.

PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.

PAPYRUS believes that suicide is everybody's business and it's only by engaging that our community will become suicide-safer. I want to do my bit.

Every £5 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247 - by email, text or telephone call - and every £20 to a resource pack to support teachers. Your donations really will change lives and every little helps.

Thank you so much for your support!
