Story
I am so proud to be taking part in this challenge in Japan. The Tom Smith Ginza Ridge Challenge is looking to raise £100,000 to enable 40tude to establish “The Tom Smith Screening Fund” which will subsidise tests for younger people aged 35-50 with symptoms of colon cancer, who don’t qualify for age-appropriate screenings.
Tom was an ambassador for 40tude, hoping that he could raise awareness and encourage people not to ignore their symptoms. Colon cancer is currently the second biggest killer cancer for non smokers, but if detected early, it is easily treated with very high rates of success.
By joining this inspiring team of 14 others, I’m hoping to continue raising awareness and make a difference in the hope that fewer families have to go through what me and my children have over the past five years. Tom has left such a big void in our lives and it is something that we are still learning to live with everyday.
Rates of colon cancer are increasing, alarmingly, particularly in young people. We are aiming to raise £100,000.
Please visit www.40tude.org.uk for more about current screening options.
Thank you for any donations you can make, big or small, they all make a difference and the support for myself and the team will be hugely appreciated.
