Story
I am participating in the Hyrox: Birmingham 2024 event, a personal challenge that will push me to my limits. On October 26th, 2024, I will be taking on this physical challenge in the hope to raise funds for the Mermaid Centre, part of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.
The Mermaid Centre is a diagnostic facility at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and is home to the Cornwall Breast Screening Programme (NHS BSP) and the Oncoplastic Breast Unit. They also provide specialised care for patients with a family history that may put them at a higher risk of developing breast cancer.
Back in 2015 my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She received the utmost care from the Mermaid Centre throughout her treatment.
For those who may not have heard of Hyrox, this event combines both running and workout stations. This involves 1km run followed by 1 functional workout station, repeated eight times. I will be completing this with my partner, where we will look to complete between us, 1000m SkiErg, 50m Sled Push, 50m Sled Pull, 80m Burpee Broad Jumps, 1000m Rowing, 200m Farmers Carry, 100m Sandbag Lunges, 100 Wall Balls and in total an 8km run. As I am doing a mixed doubles, I will need to complete all of the above using the men's category weights!.
Please consider donating today and join me in supporting the Mermaid Centre Fund. Your generous contributions will help make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Thank you.
