Story

Hello!

First of all I would like to thank you for even clicking on the link! 💜 Please keep reading for some more info on why I’m asking you to pledge some hard earned pennies to a very good cause. On the 13th August I, along with Andrea Ross (Williamson) and Janet Morrison, will be cycling, rafting and hiking over 460km across Iceland in the Rat Race Coast to Coast for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.

Neuroendocrine Cancer UK is a wonderful charity which provides support and education for people who have been diagnosed with this often misdiagnosed cancer, and their loved ones. I, and my family, have unfortunately spent a lot of time on their website in the last year after my mum was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer. Even coming from a medical background, this is a type of cancer I knew little about, and the information and guidance on the Neuroendocrine Cancer UK website was invaluable for my mum and all the family as we sought to understand this diagnosis and what it meant. Thankfully, mum has been started on an effective treatment and so far, her disease is stable. However, not everyone is so lucky. Janet and Andrea are two of my mum’s great friends, and we would like to raise money to help Neuroendocrine Cancer UK continue supporting people through their diagnosis, as well as helping to fund ongoing research to try and tackle this disease once and for all.

This trip will be pushing myself far beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone. I am equally terrified and excited, however if I can muster just half of the strength of character I have seen in my mum this last year I know I can take it in my stride, and perhaps even have some fun along the way. If you’re still reading, then thank you again. And from the bottom of my heart thank you for donating. If you would like more information on Neuroendocrine Cancer UK and the work they do then please see below:
