Story
This year, I will be running the London Marathon for the Twins Trust. I have chosen to run for this incredible charity because of the work they do in raising awareness of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
My partner, Jesy, and I are expecting identical twins and we found out in early pregnancy that they have this condition. It is rare, and life threatening, and means that because they share a placenta, one twin will ultimately take more of the blood supply and nutrients from the other which comes with huge risks. It has made pregnancy a very scary and worrying time for us, and it is awful to think that there is the risk of both our babies dying. We knew nothing about TTTS before Jesy fell pregnant, so after learning more about this heartbreaking condition, and how many babies have died as a result, we wanted to use our platform in a positive way to raise awareness and help families like ours.
That’s why the Twins Trust is our chosen charity and I want to raise as much money for them as I possibly can. Not only do they raise awareness of conditions like TTTS, but they also work closely with the NHS to audit maternity units in hospitals and their brilliant work has already saved the lives of many babies in the UK. They support multiples’ families around the clock and raise funds for more research into multiple pregnancies and complications that may arise.
Please help us raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity. Any donation, no matter how small, will go a long way to help raise awareness and hopefully save the lives of more babies.
Thank you so much for your support.
