Story
Nearly two years ago, we lost our beautiful friend Darcey to Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) at just 16 years old. Her passing has left an irreplaceable hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
As we approach the second anniversary of Darcey, I am determined to make a meaningful contribution to the cause that could help prevent other young lives from being lost to this devastating condition. On April 6th, I will be running the London Landmark Half Marathon, an event that coincidentally falls just one day before Darcey’s anniversary. This will be my way of honoring her memory while raising awareness about SADS and supporting the vital work being done to fight it.
Through this run, I hope to raise both awareness and funds for an incredible charity that is dedicated to preventing young sudden cardiac deaths. The work they do is so important – from screening young people to identifying those at risk, to funding much-needed research and offering support to affected families. It is through awareness, education, and the advancement of research that we can save lives and ensure no more families have to experience the heartbreak of losing a loved one so young.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly to the charity and will support their mission to prevent further deaths caused by SADS. Together, we can help bring hope to those affected and work towards a future where young people can live their lives without the fear of sudden cardiac arrest.
This run is for Darcey – for her spirit, for her family, and for all the other families who have been affected by this condition. Please join me in supporting this cause, and together, let’s raise awareness and funds to help prevent more heartbreak. Thank you for your generosity and for helping me honor Darcey’s memory in the most meaningful way possible.
Love Zara xx
