Welcome to the University of York climbs Kilimanjaro campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

I have chosen to challenge myself over the next year by setting the goal of raising £4650 for the Meningitis Research Foundation, a fantastic charity that alongside the World Health Organisation aims to eliminate Meningitis by 2030. 10% of those who catch meningitis die and 20% of survivors are left with lifelong impairments. A few years ago my cousin had meningitis and I saw and felt the concern that my whole family had for him. Previously, another of my cousins contracted the disease when we were babies which was one of the many complications due to her premature birth. This challenge allows me to help MRF support families who are going through the same thing and fund their research to end meningitis forever.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
