Story
I underwent emergency, life-saving, surgery for a perforated colon 3 years ago. I am alive today by the Grace of God, the skill of my surgeon, and the resulting ileostomy that has replaced my colon. With more and more people suffering from digestive issues there needs to be more awareness of what an ostomy is and how life affirming they can be! Has my life changed? Of course it has! The point is that I am alive and living my life! It hasn't stopped me from doing whatever I want, including going scuba diving this past June. Ostomy Canada is working to get the information out to the public and I'm asking for your help. Please support Ostomy Canada with a financial donation if you can. Our local support group is newly formed and therefore hasn't had the time to setup the annual walk. Instead, we're having a charity barbecue at Wellwise on Saturday October 5th between 1:00 - 3:00. If you prefer donating by cash or cheque I'll be there with my donation form.
Ostomy Canada is gearing up for its 11th Step Up for Ostomy Campaign this year! Come join us on October 5, 2024, in cities, towns, parks, trails, and venues across Canada and show your support for those living with an ostomy, their friends and family. On that day we will meet, inform and more!
Let’s all Step Up for Ostomy, to raise awareness, eliminate stigma and raise funds to help enhance Ostomy Canada Programs!
