Story
Veterans With Dogs is the UK's leading organisation that trains and provides assistance dogs exclusively for current and former members of the British Armed Forces diagnosed with a mental health condition.
Veterans With Dogs is the first in the UK to specialise in providing trained assistance dogs for Veterans with mental health difficulties.
Our goal is to improve quality of life and help lead independent lives by training assistance dogs in task-specific skills relevant to mental health.
This November, our Poppy Display is in association with the local charity Veterans with Dogs.
We chose this worthy charity after a chance meeting with a Veteran while shopping in Plymouth. He was being supported by his loyal assistant dog.
The young war veteran suffers from PTSD, a back injury, and more. He never wanted a dog before, but after collapsing on a run, he sought help through this much-needed charity. He was paired with a wonderful Labrador, who he now can’t imagine living without.
She comforts him when he's feeling low, alerts him before any collapse, and even brings him his socks and keys! Having the support of his dog has changed his life, and he can't imagine living without her now.
As dog lovers ourselves, this story touched us deeply and fits perfectly with our ethos at Charwell Dog Adventures. We understand the value and joy a dog can bring to your life.
We know times are hard, but please donate anything you can throughout November, through our collection posts in our shop or egg hut, or by scanning the following QR code which goes directly to our Just Giving page.
All donations made throughout November will be matched by Charwell Dog Adventures.
Thank you!
