Through these meditation classes our mission is to support this wonderful charity in its quest to protect woods and trees, preventing the loss of irreplaceable habitat, nature and carbon stores for ourselves and future generations.

Tragically, up to 70% of ancient woodlands in the UK have already been lost. Woodland covers just 13% of the UK's land (ancient woodland the figure is 2.5%). With this steep decline comes increased risk of flooding and huge biodiversity loss; since 1980, one out of every six birds in the UK has been lost as woodland and other habitats have been stripped away for intensive farming and development.

As a whole the UK is one of the most nature-deprived countries in the world, with far-reaching ramifications for human wellbeing too: an increasing numbers of studies are showing the intricate link between good mental and physical health and a thriving natural world. The Woodland Trust is one charity fighting hard to reverse this long decline in our natural world. So far the charity has restored 85,000 hectares of ancient woodland, saved 1,186 woods (from destruction / development) and planted 68.5 million trees since launching in 1972.
