Fundraising for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity
On 4th September 1994, a group of athletic, bright-eyed, intrepid young men arrived to begin Royal Marine Officer training. Just over twenty-nine years later, seven of those, now somewhat corpulent, quinquagenarians will take on the Royal Marine Iron Challenge for the third year in a row, having won the team competition in 2021. The Iron Challenge is an ironman distance triathlon involving a 2.4 mile night sea swim, a 112 mile bike around Devon/ Dartmouth (climbing the equivalent of Ben Nevis twice) and a trail marathon, 26.2 miles along the South West Coastal Path with a total climb of 3,500m. One of us will be completing the whole course with three others doing the marathon and one doing the bike leg. The remaining two will paddle safety kayaks, peel the oranges and try not to wipe out the cyclists driving back from lunch.
The aim is to raise as much as possible for The Royal Marines Charity which helps the entire Royal Marines family and provides a range of services to wounded veterans and their dependants to help them overcome the many challenges they face - from life changing injuries to mental health issues. Thank you for your support.
Unfortunately, the larger event will not be taking place this year so we will be organising it on our own but the winning video from 2021: https://youtube.com/watch?v=dnskMaia1MA
