Story

Hi - we are Alex, Jasper, Jim and LJ.

We’re attempting to break the Guinness World Record in aid of Young Lives vs Cancer.

THE CHALLENGE

We’re attempting to run the fastest marathon in a 4-person fancy dress outfit. The time to beat is 04:03.

WHY?

The honest answer? We don’t really know. We saw some guys do it in 04:03, our egos kicked in, and we thought “we’ve got this, boys”.

We’ve all run a marathon or two, and - as we’ve since found out - drastically underestimated what it will take to beat that time.

But what this does is give us an incredible opportunity to give it our best whilst raising (we hope) a considerable sum for charity that is very close to our hearts, and one we know will have an impact on people that cannot be measured in pounds or kms.

Our front man and pace-setter Alex was diagnosed with lung cancer aged 20 and a year later testicular cancer, and understands full well the amazing support that YLVC gives to young people in need.

THE OUTFIT

The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.

Guinness has quite strict regulations so the outfit has to have a hard outer frame, and be above the shoulders and below the knees. If you can make it to watch us on race day, you won’t be able to miss us. We’ll be the huge flowery brick trying not to get in people’s way.
