Story
Hi, my name is Yena, and I'm a second year medical student from the University of Nottingham.
In trying to find a good form of exercise during my free periods, I found myself liking to run- whether that's just chill jogging or intense treadmill runs. I decided to set myself a challenge to run for the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024.
The thought of a long run was (and still is) quite daunting for me- I felt quite new to the club and stopped multiple times to find an excuse to not do it anymore. But from seeing myself push a little further in each run has helped me feel more confident and I found myself getting excited for the next run. This helped me realise again how perseverance can overcome self-doubt and limitations you put on yourself.
Samaritans is a charity that I volunteered for during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I have gained so much from them. During an uncertain time, having a call with the team has helped me gain emotional support and I have been willing to give back to the community ever since.
Any small contributions for this page would be a huge support for both the team and myself!
