Gran Paradiso in The Alps, at 4,061m, is the highest mountain in Italy. This challenging ascent involves hiking in crampons over glaciated trails with a near vertical final climb to the summit. Together, trustee Neil Blackley, at 68, and his daughter Natasha will be taking on this huge challenge to raise funds for our charity.
Yateley Industries for the Disabled (YIFTD), founded in 1937 near Farnborough, is one of the few remaining workshop/factories in the UK that hires only disabled people. Through the offer of work, individuals with disabilities are empowered, included, and have given equal opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their communities. YIFTD employs up to 100 disabled people, many of whom have lived and worked there for up to 30 years. The charity relies on donations for its survival, and this need has never been more acute.
Through a supportive and inclusive environment for disabled individuals to ‘work, live and play’, YIFTD provides a huge benefit to the individuals, their families and the local community, as well as to society as a whole. We therefore urge you, if you are able, to make a donation to spur Neil and Natasha on, and to help ensure the continuity of the charity and its wonderful contribution to the disabled in our society.
