Will you join us on a unique night-time hike (11pm-5am) which will be both physically and mentally challenging? It reinforces the mental health messages of hope and that nothing is permanent, as we move out of the darkness and into the light.

Story

Thank you for visiting our Just Giving fundraising page.

The Worley Woodsmith Walkers are hiking for local Teesside charity, the Headlight Project, on Friday 5th July 2024.

Founded in loving memory of local Teesside businessman, Russ Devereux, who tragically died by suicide on Sunday 6th May 2018, the Headlight Project aims to reduce the number of deaths by suicide in the Tees Valley area through therapy of those bereaved by suicide and preventative education and training.

The Headlight Project is important to our walking group, as we have all in some way been affected and felt the impact of losing someone we know to suicide.

The charity also has an extra special meaning to our former colleague, Julia Anderson, who is the youngest sister of Russ Devereux.

Meet the Worley Woodsmith Walkers;

Julia Anderson, George Coates, Amanda Francis, Lee Goodlad, Laura Stubbs (& Kenny the dog) & David Weston.

The hike starts at 10:30pm and finishes at 05:00am, covering approximately 10 miles. The route will take us from the beautiful Cod Beck reservoir, through pine forests, along ancient trails and onto part of the historic Cleveland Way route. The route will be both physically and mentally challenging and reinforces the mental health messages of hope and that nothing is permanent, as we move out of the darkness and into the light.

Your donation will help the Headlight Project continue to support individuals and families left bereaved of their loved one from the most tragic circumstances.

We are walking for those who we have lost too soon.

Thank you,

Julia, George, Amanda, Lee, Laura & David.
