Story
#COTF23 is GO! And Kowa Women in Steppe is once again taking up the challenge!
We are very excited to announce that this year's campaign is dedicated to the conservation of the vulnerable and rapidly decreasing Red-breasted Goose Branta ruficollis.
Red-breasted Geese are one of the most threatened goose species in the world, under pressure from various factors, with illegal hunting being one of the most profound threats to their small and dwindling population.
Almost the entire global population of Red-breasted Geese rely on Kazakhstan as a vital, long-term stopover area on both spring and autumn migration. Our latest Champions campaign – culminating in the famous 24-hour Bird Race in Eilat next spring – is in partnership with our friends at ACBK and BSPB, BirdLife International's partners at these critical stopover areas for them.
Women in Steppe (Alen, Lisa, Lidiya, Patricia, Amy and Hannah) aim once again to raise as much funding and awareness as possible over the coming months to help the ACBK facilitate and deliver a wonderful suite of dynamic conservation measures that will turn the tide in their favour.
