William's Charity Day

William's Charity Day · 27 August 2023
William is 2 years old and lives in Witham St Hughs, Lincoln. Over the past two years, William has shown the community what true bravery is. He really is our little warrior.
Unfortunately, at 16 days old, William fell seriously unwell with Group B Streptococcus, which sadly resulted in sepsis and meningitis. Due to William having multiple seizures, he was sedated and intubated, spending eight days on life support in intensive care fighting for his life. During this time, it was confirmed that William’s brain had been starved of oxygen and as a result, he endured severe brain damage.
With William being so young, it was impossible for the doctors to tell us how William’s brain damage would present itself until he reaches his key developmental milestones. However, we were informed it would be likely he will have Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Only a short time after discharge from hospital, William was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus caused by the meningitis, resulting in him undergoing brain surgery at only 12 weeks old.
Over the past 2 years it has become evident that William has global development delay. Due to this, he requires regular physio, occupational therapy, and educational support. He is also registered blind and has regular input from a visual impairment teacher.
In spite of Williams difficulties, he is a very happy, content and smiley little boy. His drive and determination have proved inspiring to many. Seeing William go through what he has, has made us appreciate how special he is. He really is our little miracle, and we will do whatever we can to give him to best life possible.
William's parents have set up a Just4Children page in William's name, with the aim to ensure as William grows up, he will have the opportunity to access any specialised equipment and receive treatments and interventions to support him in his development. Donations will also allow the family to adapt their home environment to meet William’s needs in the future.
