A listener of our show reached out to suggest we dedicate our episode about The Author to fundraising on behalf of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

When ERCC hired a trans CEO, JKR’s foundation pulled their funding from the centre and JKR opened up her own “single sex” rape crisis service. It is a private business that claims to be “a sexual violence support service for women – run by women”.

In contrast, ERCC is a trans inclusive service that supports survivors of all genders aged 12+ who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. ERCC faces regular transphobic attacks from the press and public, and a lack of funding such that they are unable to meet the huge demand for support in the city.
