Story
Stay At School helps to build and operate boarding houses at mountain schools in Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world where opportunities for young people are limited and school dropout rates high. If children can spend less time walking and more time learning; if their engagement can be improved and they can access greater support from their teachers; and, if they have safe place to sleep and are provided with regular meals, their ability to gain an education will afford them a happier, more fulfilled and brighter future.
The fundraiser aims to raise money to build boarding houses for these children, so they can have the opportunities they deserve.
In recognition of the unjust amount of walking that these children have to carry out each day, on 17 June, during Wykeham Day, we will, in a joint effort, walk and climb a route around the Flint Court classrooms, with the hope that each boarding house climbs the distance of from the base camp to the summit of Mount Everest — 3700m.
