Story
This is the combined fundraising page for Martin, Lisa and Matt (3 colleagues at URM Consulting Services) in memory of Win Fleming (wife of Martin). Win lost her life to leiomyosarcoma (LMS) - a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer, in July 2021. She was a remarkable person who gave so much to so many in her career as a clinical psychologist, friend and family member. Read a tribute
3 years and 3 days after her passing, the 3 colleagues are looking to ascend and descend the 3 highest peaks in Scotland England and Wales in 23 hours. In the process, they hope to raise as much money as possible for a Sarcoma UK LMS research project that is being conducted at the University of Edinburgh. The project aims to identify new drugs that could improve outcomes for patients with LMS as well as find specific genetic changes in the cancer that predict if a drug is likely to work.
As Martin explains, “LMS is such an aggressive and fast-acting cancer, and time is of the essence in its treatment. If the research shows that the drugs work, they could be made available more quickly to patients with LMS and vastly improve the likely prognosis.”
