Hi, I’m Mark – thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I’m running the marathon to raise money for Carers Bucks, a local charity that’s close to my heart.

I first came across Carers Bucks a fair few years ago when I was serving as a town councillor in Aylesbury. I was chairing a grants committee when a group of young carers came in to speak to us about the challenges they face and the support they need. We all sat there quietly, moved by what we heard – and we knew straight away we had to support them.

A few years later, during my time as Mayor of Aylesbury (2018–19), I had to choose a charity for my mayoral year. For me, there was never any doubt – it had to be Carers Bucks. They do such vital work supporting unpaid carers of all ages across Buckinghamshire, including young carers who are looking after someone in their family.

Now, as I see the caring responsibilities growing within my own family, the cause feels more important than ever. Carers – young and old – are under huge pressure. Many people don’t even realise they’re carers, but they’re quietly supporting loved ones day in, day out.

This is my chance to raise awareness and give something back. Carers Bucks need the funds to carry on supporting our caring community – and I’d be so grateful if you could help me support them.
