Story
So, 2 middle-aged men are having a mid-life crisis!
In an attempt to scratch the itch of adventure we have bought a 1999 Fiat Panda are are going to race it across the Sahara in Morocco in March 2024.
This is 350 old Pandas crossing the desert with no GPS or Sat Nav, just a good old fashioned compass and map and a spade to dig ourselves out when we get stuck in the sand. It's a 3,000km dash across the desert in various stages, sleeping in tents beside our car at night, hopefully ending up in Marrakech.
Whilst a huge adventure for us we are also hoping to do some good too. We are looking to raise money for Alzheimer Research and also, via our linked page, the Moroccan Earthquake appeal, as we explore their wonderful country that was hit by an earthquake this year.
Late on Friday evening, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco - the epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, approximately 70 kilometres south of Marrakech.
A 4.9 magnitude aftershock followed just 20 minutes later. Local authorities are already reporting that over 1,000 people have died, and many more are injured. These numbers are likely to rise rapidly in the coming days as the full impact of the disaster becomes clear.
The local Moroccan Red Crescent are on the ground responding to the earthquake.
Please note:
The Morocco Earthquake appeal will cover areas affected by the earthquake and those potentially affected in the future. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and efficiently spent, any surplus funds will be used to help us prepare for and respond to other humanitarian disasters anywhere in the world.
