Story
Good day one and all,
Thank you for taking the time to connect with my fundraising page.
As many of you know - in my day to day professional life I work in the healthcare sector, currently specialising in the hospital treatment for service users with a diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness, Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
It has opened my eyes to the day to day challenges that Autistic People face in our communities and where the lack of funding of our NHS is impacting the support available. As such, this has spurred me on to embark on a challenge to fly the flag and attempt to raise money for the National Autistic Society to support those who need it most.
From the 29/03 to 31/03 I am planning to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain, covering 114km in just three days.
The National Autistic Society tirelessly works towards understanding, acceptance, and support for those affected by autism. Through advocacy, research, and services, they aim to create a more inclusive society, providing valuable resources and empowering individuals with autism to thrive.
What is Autism?
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. More than one in 100 people are on the autism spectrum and there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK.
