Story
Yes you read that correctly. I am running 7 marathons in 7 days during Dementia Action Week (15th- 21st May).
That is a total of 183.4 miles or 4750038.2 steps.
This national event sees the UK public taking action to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
Why am I taking action?
Dementia sucks.
It is also misunderstood...
It is not normal ageing, my hero aka my mum, lives with young onset Alzheimers. Initially diagnosed at 49.
This disease currently has no cure.
I have struggled to face the reality of life after diagnosis for my mum. I have used running and doing ambitious/idiotic challenges that raise vital funds and awareness as my way of coping.
I'm sure that at some point during this challenge I will get to the place where I want to stop.
My mum taught me that anything is possible, just one step at a time.
She epitomises strength on a daily basis, grabbing life with both hands and making loads of memories.
My hope is to spark conversations about what dementia IS and raise funds to one day make this a curable disease.
How can you help?
1. Donate (every £ goes towards vital dementia research with ARUK)
2. Share this link/story. Every person that sees this challenge will help shift the narrative of Dementia!
3. Join me on the run! I would like to welcome anyone to join me on this challenge (any distance any day!) Please get in touch :)
Day 1-6 will be completed in Shrewsbury
Day 7 will be in North Wales
Below is some more information on the amazing charity I am running for:
