Story

Our Wild Warrior William was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in January 2022 aged 7. His whole world as he knew it was turned upside down. Type 1 diabetes is a chronic disability that requires round the clock management, consisting of daily finger pricks, injections, corrections and so much more William is fortunate enough and grateful to our wonderful #nhs to now wear a CGM and #omnipod. Through tough times he has made us even more proud than we ever imagined possible. He wears his disability with pride, Type 1 diabetes doesn’t define William it’s just a part of who he is. William loves all things animals, outdoors and most importantly his family and friends. Unfortunately in October 2022 William sustained a serious injury in school resulting in the setting no longer being suitable for him, whilst being off school he has found a new passion for his cycling with his Stepdad Adam he also now attends alternative provision at Higher Farm Byley #higherfarm this has enhanced his confidence and blossomed new friendships and on the 5th October he has chosen to cycle home with Adam from Byley to the Stanneylands by David Wilson Homes #davidwilsonhomes to raise money for #Diabetesuk He is going to set off on his jounrney at just gone 12 and commence his 15 mile journey. William is one of the most caring, considerate characters you will ever be fortunate enough meet and we would be grateful if you could support him on his journey to raise awareness for #diabetesuk
