The Scottish Wildlife Trust's award-winning snorkel trails help engage people with marine wildlife and showcase the amazing diversity of Scotland's seas. Will you help us cover the cost of creating a new snorkel trail in the unique waters of Orkney?

Story

As many of our friends and family know, Pete and Cath first met on South Water Cay in Belize in 1991 when Pete was Director of Coral Cay Conservation and Cath was a volunteer on a project carrying out diving surveys of coral reefs. The data from this project and Pete's hard work led to the designation of the Belizean Barrier Reef as a World Heritage Site. Both of us have maintained our passion for marine conservation, and since we have been together, we have been lucky enough to go back to the coral reefs of the Caribbean, but also explore Scotland's beautiful coastline, in Barra in the Western Isles as well as the shores of the Forth.

We are so happy to be getting married after all these years, but have decided that we don't really need traditional wedding gifts (besides, we have no space now that Pete has moved his tools in!)

Instead, we would like to donate to charity, and have chosen to support the marine and coastal conservation projects of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. So, if you were kind enough to think of giving us a gift, we would be delighted if you could consider donating to the SWT. Any money raised will be used for creating a new snorkel trail in Orkney, or another of their marine projects - please see https://scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/things-to-do/snorkel-trails/ and https://scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk/our-work/our-projects/living-seas/ and further details below. We are really excited to support this project and are planning on doing the trail ourselves once it opens!

The Scottish Wildlife Trust's award-winning snorkel trails showcase Scotland's seas and engage people with the vast array of wildlife they support. From small sea squirts, sponges and anemones right up to dolphins, whales and harmless basking sharks, Scotland's waters are home to an amazing diversity of species.

By introducing a new snorkel trail to Orkney, the Trust can connect even more people with Scotland's marine life, as well as the fascinating history of Orkney's waters.

But creating a new trail comes with a cost. Before the Trust can encourage people to explore Orkney's coasts, their team must first create a guide to help snorkelers navigate the island's waters safely and responsibly and introduce them to the wildlife that they may encounter. By donating to this campaign, you can directly support the creation of this important guide.

Will you help the Trust cover the cost of creating a new snorkel trail in Orkney and bring people closer to Scotland's unique marine wildlife?
